Event Terms and Conditions

Terms and Conditions

In order to register to for a free fundraising pack ('Event') with the aim of raising funds for The Royal British Legion ('the Legion'), you must agree to the following Terms and Conditions. Please read this page carefully as it contains important information. 

1. Entry and Fees 

a. Participants will be solely responsible for arranging and organising the Event. In particular the activity, the date and location, and any fundraising amount. For the avoidance of doubt, the Participant is not participating in a Legion organised event; but will be participating in an event that they have arranged and organised in order to fundraise for the Legion. As such, Participants participate in the Event at their own risk and expense. 

2. Fundraising and Sponsorship 

a. All fundraising activity undertaken as part of the Event must be for the benefit of the Legion's vital work only. 

b. All funds raised for The Royal British Legion's work shall be paid to the Legion as soon as is reasonably practical through an authorised online fundraising page (Enthuse/JustGiving). Alternatively, funds can be paid over the phone on 0345 845 1945 or sent to the Legion's head office no later than two (2) months after the last day of the Event addressed to Mass Events at The Royal British Legion, 199 Borough High Street, London SE1 1AA. 

c. The Legion cannot issue refunds of money donated to anybody other than the individual that made the donation. If you wish to request a refund for supporters that donated to us either directly or via your choice of giving platform (i.e, Enthuse, Just Giving), then the individual who made the donation will have to contact us directly to request a refund.  

d. Requesting a donation, does not guarantee we will issue one. Each request will be considered in isolation and we will only issue refunds if the request satisfies Charity Commission guidance. 

e. Participants will only use lawful means to fundraise for the Legion and will not bring the charity's names into disrepute. 

f. Participants are not permitted to use or make changes to the Legion's logos. 

g. Participants may only inform people they are raising money in aid of the Legion. Participants are not allowed to claim they are fundraising on behalf of or representing the Legion. 

3. Safety 

a. All Participants take part in this fundraising event at their own risk. Participants acknowledge and agree that the Legion cannot be held liable for any damage caused. 

b. As Participants will be arranging the activity themselves, the Legion is unable to provide assistance, be it medical or other. Therefore, the Participant agrees that they will ensure that if they are safe to take on the activity, they advise someone as to their location and that they will take appropriate precautions. 

4. Liability and Insurance 

a. Neither the Legion nor its agents or contractors shall be liable for any injury or accident causing loss or damage to a Participant where this is sustained as a result of a Participant taking part in the Event; save where this is a direct result of the actions or negligence of the Legion, its agents or contractors. 

b. The Legion shall not be liable for any loss or damage sustained by a Participant as a result of: (i) the cancellation of the Event for any reason; (ii) any changes made to the Event for safety or any other reasons. 

c. Participants shall be responsible for arranging suitable and adequate insurance protection to cover their participation in the Event; including, without limitation, cover for material loss/damage, insurance in respect of any equipment they may use in their chosen activity, personal property (including clothing), any loss or damage they may cause to a third party, medical expenses, death, injury, repatriation, cancellation and curtailment or negligence of any party. 

d. Each Participant is responsible for their actions whilst participating in their chosen fundraising activity for the Event. The Legion accepts no responsibility for the actions of a Participant nor the consequences of their actions. 

5. Cancellation and Changes to an Event 

a. While the Participant is responsible for organising the activity, where the Legion cancels the Event for any reason, we will notify all Participants as soon as possible. 

6. Data Protection 

a. Each Participant agrees that, in accordance with prevailing data protection legislation, the Legion may use information provided to the Legion in connection with the Event.
